What the Bible says about God’s unconditional love?
Share this:
Both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are filled with examples of God’s love for us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life,” wrote the apostle John (John 3:16). But what about the lyrics about his love never dying? Which Bible scriptures educate us about God’s unfailing love?
What does the Bible say about love never fails
The Bible has a lot to say about love, yet it never fails. These are St. Paul’s statements in 1 Corinthians 13:8. In the lines that follow, Jesus defines what love is and isn’t. It’s patient and caring, yet it’s not envious or arrogant. It does not keep track of wrongdoings or seek vengeance. Even when circumstances are challenging or frightening, it protects, trusts, and wishes for the best.
Love never gives up on the people it cares about. This is the New Testament definition of agape, which refers to heavenly love. God loves us in this way even though we don’t deserve it and can’t earn it.
According to 1 Corinthians 13:8 and Romans 8:38-39, which indicate that neither death nor life will separate us from God’s love for us in Jesus Christ our Lord, love never fails because God’s love never fails.
This is one of my favorite Bible passages. I adore 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 because it is so strong and reveals so much about God’s love for us.
We frequently believe that we love someone when, in fact, we do not. We may believe that we love our children, spouse, or wife, but if our actions do not reflect this, we do not truly love them. This is why it is critical to understand what God defines as love.
Bible verses about God’s love never failing
There are several verses in the Bible that speak of God’s love. It is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith that spans over 300 passages in the New Testament alone. This is why there are so many verses about God’s never-ending, eternal love.
John 3:16 – Christ died a sacrificial death on the Cross
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16
This popular portion of the Bible clearly and simply lays out the glorious gospel of grace. It teaches that Christ died a sacrificial death on the Cross in order to pay the price for our sin.
Through His death, Christ destroyed the power of the dead over us. This has gone a long way to show His unfailing love for us his children.
All who put their faith in Him will be healed, declared righteous, and have eternal life all because of the love He has for us.
Titus 3:5 – We are saved through God’s love
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
~ Titus 3:5
As sinners, there was nothing in us that deserved such salvation from God through His son Jesus.
His gift of salvation and eternal life was entirely due to His divine love for us, which saw and pitied us in our misery.
How wonderful it is to know that we are saved because of God’s love that never fails. And all our sins were washed away the moment we trusted Jesus as our Saviour.
Psalm 103:8 – Mercy and Love
The LORDis merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
~ Psalm 103:8
From the beginning to end, the Lord demonstrates Himself to be compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in loving-kindness towards us.
The thought of what God had done for Israel made David praise Him for His grace, patience, mercy, and unfailing love. Even in our sinful state, His love for us never fails.
God had shown David mercy and undeserved favor by sparing his life after his affair with Bathsheba. David confessed his sin, and the Lord forgave him and showed His love for him.
1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
~ 1 John 5:13
Apostle John adored the Lord of host and worked tirelessly to bring others to a knowledge of the Lord Jesus and to trust in His salvation because to know Him is to have eternal life.
Those who believe in Christ Jesus are not condemned, but those who do not believe in Him are already condemned.
All these are made possible by God’s unfailing love for us and not because of our personal work but by grace.
Psalm 86:15
But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
~ Psalm 86:15
Our God is the only one who possesses omnipotent power and infinite love. Christ is the way, the truth, and the light.
God’s compassion, mercy, and the truth will be our refuge and consolation if only we believe in Him. And this goes to demonstrate God’s divine love for us and his assurance that His love never fails.
1 John 3:1-24
And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
~ 1 John 3:24
Abiding or continuing in God entails obedience to his word, faith in Jesus as Lord, and love for one another.
John is simply repeating Jesus’ teaching, in which the “greatest commandment” is to love God, and the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself.
In whatever we do, we should not lose faith in God because he has promised to continually love us and forgive us anytime we call on him.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
~ Matthew 6:33
Jesus has told His followers not to be concerned about how they will obtain the necessities of life, even if they don’t know where their next meal will come from.
He wants them to have faith in the heavenly Father to provide for His children because He loves them so much.
Instead of living in constant worry, Jesus tells us to pursue God’s kingdom, trust in His righteousness, and leave it to Him to take care of our basic needs.
KJV – Bible verses about God’s love never failing
Psalm 63:3
Because thy lovingkindnessis better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
~ Psalm 63:3
David often found his spirit thirsting for the Lord and his heart yearning for a touch from God in the midst of his wilderness experiences.
But instead of sitting and weeping for a long time or going into mournful self-pity, his thirsty soul begins to earnestly seek the Lord and claim in his heart the need for a closer walk with God.
He begins to rehearse the many wonders that have been displayed in his own life and his belief in His promises of grace as he seeks the Lord because His love never fails.
Psalm 94:18-19
When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.
~ Psalm 94:18-19
Psalm 13:5
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
~ Psalm 13:5
David’s trust in the Lord triumphs over his fear of the enemy. David’s genuine, human expressions of confusion and frustration began this psalm.
In response to his adversity, David asked God, “Why?” in a heartfelt manner. His own mind wasn’t sharp enough to solve these problems, and he was worried that his enemies.
At the end of the psalm, David shifts his attention away from his adversary and toward the Lord’s unfailing love. He rejoices in God’s provision of salvation to mankind.
1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
~ 1 John 5:18
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
~ Jeremiah 31:3(KJV)
Bible verses about God never fails
God never fails. Unlike human beings, who are prone to make mistakes, God never fails to do what he says. As Bible verses about God never failing show us, this is one of the many qualities that make him uniquely godlike.
He can make mistakes because he’s only human; but as God, he does not fail—at least, not in the way humans might fail. This concept is expressed in several Bible verses about God never fails.
1 Kings 8:56
Blessedbe the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. ~ 1 Kings 8:56
Psalm 33:4
For the word of the LORDisright; and all his worksare done in truth.
~ Psalm 33:4
We are encouraged to shout for joy, to always rejoice in the Lord, for His word is completely righteous, and we can trust everything He says and does because He is faithful and true.
Shouldn’t we, as unworthy recipients of His merciful grace and unfailing love, give glory to our Creator God and sing praises to the God of our salvation?
On a daily, we should rejoice to know fully well that we can trust in his words because God never fails.
Isaiah 40:8
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
~ Isaiah 40:8
God employs a variety of comparisons in this portion to convey a message to His listeners to teach those who are justified by faith an important biblical fact.
And the fact remains that no matter what we pass through as human, God’s word never fails and will never fail. With the knowledge of this, we should learn to trust in God.
The earthly things like grasses and flowers may wither but God’s word is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
~ Matthew 24:35(NASB)
The word of the Lord is eternal, and every aspect of it is rooted and grounded in the Person and Work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is the eternal Word, who was created in mortal man’s image. He is Jesus Christ, crucified, risen, and glorified.
Who was manifest in the flesh, so that all who put their faith in Him for salvation would not perish but have everlasting life. And His words are true and won’t fail though heaven and earth pass away.
What the Bible says about God’s unconditional love?
God’s love is unconditional. It is not based on who you are or what you have done. He loves you just the way you are, no strings attached.
He loves you so much that he sent his only Son to die on the cross for your sins, knowing full well that you would reject Him and send Him to Hell; and He loved you enough to give His Son even though He knew that His Son would die and be punished instead of You.
God’s love is also unconditional because it is never based on how good or bad we are. It doesn’t matter if we are saints or sinners if we do good things or bad things; God still loves us even though we sinned against Him multiple times throughout history.
In fact, God’s unconditional love is so great that he has given us another way to show our appreciation for Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross: by trusting in Him today, asking Jesus into our hearts, and placing our faith in Him as the only way to be saved from sin and eternal death (John 3:16).
